CUPPING THERAPY
Relax and Rejuvenate ...
Cupping has been a part of Chinese Medicine for over 5000 years. It relieves aches and pains, relaxes tight muscles, improves circulation, expedites healing of injuries, detoxifies the body, helps with respiratory and digestive issues.
When circulation is sluggish or compromised in an injured or diseased area of the body, insufficient oxygen gets to the cells. This results in a local build-up of waste products such as dead, static blood, lymph, cellular debris, and toxins. Cupping therapy is excellent for conditions such as tennis and golf elbow, carpal tunnel, and repetitive-motion, stress injuries.
Try a Different Style of Chinese Cupping...
Negative-pressure, organic oil, frequent movement, and comfortable gliding techniques providing deep tissue benefits. A "specialized" glass cup is placed onto specific points on your body, a "negative-pressure" suction draws your skin up into the cups. It doesn't hurt, it comfortably draws fresh blood to hat area of your body, which facilitates the movement of stagnant blood. The end result is a greater overall sense of health and well-being. Suction pulls toxins, pathogenic factors, dead lymph and cellular debris from deep within the tissues to the surface. These debilitating agents are then more easily expelled from the body.
The quality of the pathogenic factors varies according to the severity of the patient's blood stasis, which correlates with the nature, severity and type of condition they have.
These are all results of disease and toxins being removed from deep within the tissues. The more discoloration that surfaces, the greater level of stagnation and toxicity needing to be purged from the body. Usually, the practitioner will see the greatest amount of deposits being drawn to the surface in the first few treatments, this is a good thing.
The deposits will lessen in intensity as the deeper issues are resolved and the stagnation and toxins have been dredged up and flushed out via the body's own circulatory systems, expulsion from the pores and sweat.
The most common misunderstanding concerning cupping is the misinterpretation of the marks that sometimes result. These marks are not bruises. Bruising is caused by impact trauma with the breakage of capillaries and a reactionary rush of fluids to the damaged location from the tissue injury. There is no compression in correctly performed cupping.
Facial Cupping uses vacuum technique, as an all-natural alternative to a surgical face-lift, or laser and chemical treatments. It tones your facial muscles, reduces under-eye puffiness, lifts, and tones the jowls, relaxes tight brow, facial, and jaw muscles. It improves the blood circulation to your facial muscles and stimulates lymph movement. This treatment is a very unique way of turning back the hands of time. This relaxing, glass cupping facial increases fresh blood circulation and nutrients to the skin, increases lymphatic flow, and reduces inflammation. Facial Cupping Rejuvenation relaxes facial muscles and plumps the lines on your face. It moves toxins and stagnant blood out and ushers new nutrient-enriched blood and fluids in, to detoxify your face; thereby, repairing and nourishing your face. It's deep, invigorating action increases elastin and collagen; preserving our youthfulness. It reverses gravity's effects on your face It gives your face a lymphatic drainage and increases circulation, resulting in a clearer, more even complexion with beautiful, natural color.
Hold the Chemicals, Bring on Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation!
Acupuncture's holistic approach appeals in particular to women who want to slow signs of aging, but don’t want to undergo surgery or to inject chemicals.
Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation Benefits:
-Promotes blood and lymph circulation; increased circulation dilates peripheral blood vessels for better distribution of oxygen and nutrients as well as cellular regeneration.
-Rehydrates the skin’s external layers through stimulation of the secretion of the sweat and sebaceous glands which encourages the regeneration of healthy skin cells.
-Helps exfoliation, aids the proliferation of new skin cells, increases nutrition to the skin’s surface, improves the quality of the skin and promotes a healthy glow.
-Allows healthy “breathing” of the skin, increasing the skin’s protective ability to ward off infections and clogged pores.
-Increases oxygen consumption of the skin’s external layer speeding up the release of carbon dioxide and nitrogen at the cellular level, helping to keep skin deeply clean; contributes to reducing the accumulation of excess grease on the skin’s surface.
-Stimulates the production of elastin and 5 collagen proteins in the skin to reduce and soften wrinkles.
-Reduces and relaxes the tension in the nerves and muscles improving the integrity of the skin resulting in improved overall facial appearance.
-Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture is successful in smoothing fine lines and softening deeper wrinkles.
-Increases blood flow and circulation to the skin and lips creating a brighter complexion and will also lift the cheeks and firm the skin around the jaw line and neck.
-Facial Acupuncture supports the body’s ability to repair and regenerate cellular tissue. It triggers the production of vital, healthy cells while increasing blood flow, circulation and production of collagen and elastin. This helps with the reduction or erasure of fine lines and the softening of deeper ones. Additionally, patients may experience the firming of jowls and a reduction in the size of under-eye bags.
-Since Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation is based on time-tested principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a person’s overall health will also benefit.
Facial Suction Vacuum
The vacuum causes a negative pressure. This “negative pressure” is a novel experience for the body; one that it may never have experienced. Your body is more familiar with pressure and pushing and prodding and compression, rather than feeling spaciousness and flow. This facial utilizes glass suction specially designed for your face. The facial cups have soft, rounded edges. I have used facial cupping in my practice successfully to drain lymph and congestion from the neck and ears associated with sinus infections, ear infections, and allergies.
● Reduces puffiness
● Lifts muscles

Although your skin will look improved with one session, a series is preferred for optimal results. For maximum beneficial results, weekly treatments are recommended.
Herbs are derived from all parts of plants: roots, stems, seeds, fruits, flowers and leaves. Chinese medicine also may include substances derived from mineral and animal sources. Traditionally the herbs are cooked in a decoction or tea. Commonly herbs are found as powders and tea pills.
I recommend and use Chinese herbal manufacturers that are GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice). GMP herbal manufacturers ensure that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards (free of heavy metals, dyes, and contaminants). Chinese Herbal Medicine is used when there is an underlying deficiency, or when there is an over-accumulation, to disperse it. Chinese Qi strengthening pills combat Qi deficiency, which can result in poor digestion, fatigue, and a more serious condition called organ prolapse. An ancient formula, Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan has a long history of resolving digestive problems and prolapsed organs, both conditions due to Qi deficiency.
Although primarily composed of tonifying herbs, this formula also contains two herbs that perform a task unique to Chinese medicine. Cimicifuga (sheng ma) and Bupleurum (chai hu) are used as directing herbs with an upward energy; that is, in addition to their specific medicinal effects, they can also direct the effects of an herb formula to the upper portion of the body.
A formula such as Xiao Yao Wan would be recommended to help to smooth the flow of excess liver Qi and to disperse it so it does not stagnate and aggravate the emotions. This is an example of a popular herbal formula to address over-accumulation or excess in the liver.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Qi is the vital energy whose smooth flow around the body keeps the body and its organs working in harmony. When a flow of Qi in meridians is stagnated the affected organs will malfunction. In case of liver Qi stagnation, one typically feels distending pain along the sides of the body (especially in the chest), easily gets upset, depressed, and has irregular, painful menstruation or swollen breasts for woman.
Xiao Yao Wan (Free and Easy Wanderer) disperses liver QI stagnation. Researches have suggested that Xiao Yao Wan may regulate menstruation by regulating the secretion of hormones. Xiao Yao Wan is indicated in Chinese medicine for soothing the liver and strengthening the spleen, tonifying the blood and regulating menstruation. It is used for irregular menstruation, distension pain in the chest and hypochondria, dizziness and blurry vision, and loss of appetite due to liver Qi stagnation.
Moxibustion (Moxa) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort, also known as Artemesia Vulgaris to facilitate healing and health. Moxibustion has been used for healing purposes throughout Asia for thousands of years. The purpose of Moxibustion, as with most forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is to strengthen the blood, digestion, and immunity. Moxa stimulates the flow of Qi (energy) and blood movement, warms the channels, and enhances your overall health and vitality.
Translates into: "Acupuncture & Moxibustion"
Acupuncture and Moxibustion come as a pair in Oriental Medicine. They are in fact two characters in Chinese or Japanese writing which make one word. Acupuncture and Moxibustion complement each other to form one mode of therapy. The therapeutic effect is boosted or complimented when both forms of treatment are used together. There are many benefits to Moxibustion. Clinically it increases blood cell counts, especially that of white blood cells, which strengthens the immune system.
The heat produced from the burning moxa penetrates deeply into underlying tissues, improving circulation, and helping to reduce both pain and inflammation. Moxibustion can penetrate into the core of the pain location, and has results far surpassing that of pain medication. With long term application of Moxibustion, it is possible to revitalize tissue that has had almost irreversible damage.
Kidney Health in Traditional Chinese Medicine
The kidneys are considered the source of all the vital energy or “Qi” within the body. This is the time of year to reflect on health, replenish energy, and conserve strength. The cold and darkness of winter urges us to slow down (even in Hawaii). It is the perfect time to recharge our batteries and generate vital energy, Qi. In winter, just as the energy of the tree goes into the roots, so to does the energy of our bodies. The kidneys are the roots of the body. Tao is an East Asian concept that relates to the true nature of the world. It is the universal force that generates and propels everything in it, yin, yang, blood, and QI.

In winter, just as the energy of the tree goes into the roots, so to does the energy of our bodies. The kidneys are the roots of the body.
Tao is an East Asian concept that relates to the true nature of the world. It is the universal force that generates and propels everything in it. Yin, yang, blood, and all things can be described according to their yin and yang natures. Different aspects of your body and health are in relative yin or yang states at different times of the day or different times in your life. Your internal universal harmony is maintained by an appropriate balance of yin and yang. The meridians operate in yin organ and yang organ pairs, each of which is associated with a particular element. It is the connection between QI flow, yin and yang balance, and interaction between the five elements which allows the Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner to determine which meridians are in need of treatment.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, foods are considered one of the following: cold, cooling, neutral, warming or hot. All of these foods fall under either yin or yang. Qi, also called chi is the underlying energy in all life, our life force. Yin is the passive, negative, slow-moving, cool, relaxed representation. Yang on the other hand is active, fiery, hot, expanding and fast-moving representation. The moon is yin and the sun is yang.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, our QI and blood flow can be affected by invasion of energies from the external environment. These energies are wind, cold, dampness, heat, dryness, and summer-heat. One of the five functions of QI is to protect the body from invasion by these environmental energies. If the defensive QI is weak, environmental energy can invade the body, settling into the channels, and block the flow of QI and blood in those channels. According to some Chinese doctors, such invasion by external energies can only occur if the defensive QI is deficient. Invasion by these kinds of external energy usually involves at least two kinds of environmental energy. In other words, they do not usually invade the body singly but rather in pairs.
For instance, wind often combines with heat, cold, and/or dampness. When these energies invade the upper body, we typically come down with a cold or flu. But when they invade the low back, we may get acute low back pain.
Keep the feet warm through winter to preserve the kidney QI and yang. The body’s QI is conserved by keeping warm. Try to avoid excessive sweating from hot showers or baths because of open pores and the loss of YANG and QI. Hot water foot baths are recommended. Add freshly brewed ginger root tea and or turmeric root tea to the hot water foot bath. Epsom salts are also a nice addition for sore, achy joints and podiatry complaints. Keep your feet off of cold floors and avoid wearing wet shoes or flip-flops.
Avoid Excessive Lifestyles
When the kidneys are depleted due to being overworked, it can cause fatigue. However, very few people associate fatigue with depleted kidney energy and usually force their way through it. Regular and excessive coffee and alcohol consumption depletes the adrenal glands and kidneys, heat the liver, and cause over-acidity in the body.
In Qi Kung and Tai Chi practices, focus is placed on breathing and exercises that improve circulation, blood flow and keep the kidneys exercised and balanced. Preserve your Kdney Yin, Yang, QI, and Jing. Eat dark foods and soup. Avoid toxins in food and water, as well as intoxicants and heavy metals. Keep your lower back, legs, and feet warm.
"My recent session with Christine Walinch was a delight. Christine’s energy and enthusiasm for her work is evident from the first moment you meet her. Her light and buoyant personality enriches her skill as an acupuncturist. She felt to me as a dancer as she deftly inserted needles in the appropriate energy centers of my body. Christine is also willing to answer questions about anything regarding healing and oftentimes can offer assistance and insight into other areas of healing such as appropriate diet and supplements. Christine is truly a joy to work with, and her Joy, itself enhances the healing work that she performs. I would recommend Christine to anybody interested in supporting their journey towards greater health and vitality."
"I left a message on Christine's VM and she got back to me super quick. She was flexible and accommodating to my busy work schedule and squeezed me in for a last minute appointment that I desperately needed. She's a very friendly individual who both listened to what I had to say about the problems I was dealing with and made succinct recommendations on how to improve. Her vast array of knowledge is truly inspiring. She worked on me very thoroughly using different techniques. By the time she was finished,my arm felt brand new (going in feeling dead) and I felt like a brand new inspired person wanting to take care of my body mind and spirit through a healthy lifestyle. She's totally professional and would make a great asset to whatever you need healing with on a regular basis. Big mahalo!!'
"While at Pearl Harbor, my leg became so sore that I was unable to put any weight on it. Flying to Kauai the next day, I was in so much pain, I couldnt walk. A visit to Wilcox Hospital E.R., showed a bakers cyst behind my knee. Here I was the second day into my vacation and all they could offer was pain meds, a wheelchair, and rest. I asked for a list of acupuncturists at Wilcox E.R. Reading her qualifications and the fact that she was located 5 minutes from my location, I called for an appointment. Even though she was booked and leaving the next day, she made time for me and even came to my location. When she left I was able to walk and go on to enjoy my holiday. How can I ever thank her enough for saving my dream vacation. God bless her for going out of her way to help."
"I fell on a hike and hurt my wrist pretty bad. I thought the rest of my vacation was going to be ruined. But Christine saved me. The next day I was out paddle-boarding. The healing transformation was incredible. The best part of my story is I didn't even have an appointment. Christine was kind enough to help me while she was giving my partner a treatment. It was very refreshing to have somebody as skilled as Christine be so kind and generous. I must be in Hawaii because she is a true testament of Aloha."
"I am 63 and have been going to various acupuncturists for many years. Christine is, by far, the best and most effective one that I have ever found. She is incredibly knowledgeable and a wealth of information about nutrition as well as a fabulously centered practitioner. Her calm, sweet, capable energy was such a treat. I have never felt better after a treatment than with her. She is a gift and definitely a credit to the profession.
